When it comes to fashion, we all probably picture the same thing. And, that’s skinny models in pseudo futuristic clothing that no one would deign to wear out and about, and that can be off putting. However, much like philosophy, everyone interacts with it in some way, whether they know it or not. Therefore, it can be helpful to recontextualize “low” fashion for those of us with more mundane tastes so that we can make the most out of our own fashion sense using the tools available to us. Here are some tips to help you look your best without looking all shiny and chrome.

First and foremost, the tee shirt and jeans combo is a staple of “normie” fashion. And, while there’s nothing wrong with this, many of us simply play it too safe for it to be interesting. Ways to improve this are many. For example, you could simply upgrade to graphic tees. And, I don’t mean a dumb catch phrase or anything like that, but, rather, something from Think Geek or Hot Topic, or similar retailers that celebrates one of your interests. This is a great way to keep your look simple while also using it to express yourself.

Another way to spice up your down to earth sense of style is to look into the fashion phenomenon known as “normcore” Normcore, at its, well, core, is taking the mundane and sort of remixing it into new and novel combinations to create the fashion equivalent of surrealism. Almost normal, but not quite normal. Parallel to normal, if you will. This can be a great way to get some extra stylage mileage out of your wardrobe. With these tips in mind, you’re sure to be able to milk to regular wardrobe for all its worth and create a unique style for yourself.
