Top 5 beaches in Mykonos

1. Platis Gialos Beach

Platis Gialos is one of the best known beaches in Mykonos. This sleek beach is packed full with tourist each summer. In addition to golden sand that glimmer in the sunshine, clear and green turquoise water is characteristic of Platis Gialos. This makes it ideal for snorkel diving and underwater photography. The beach is also a popular spot for windsurfing and in case you haven`t mastered this art, skilled instructors are available at the beach. The beach is lined with 5 star hotels such as the Palladium and the Myconian Hotel. A stay in one of this hotel makes the beach easily accessible. In case you choose to stay in other hotels located far from the beach, you can always use buses or taxes to access the beach.

2. Ornos Beach

Located about 3km from Chora, Ornos Beach stands out as one of the best family friendly beaches in Mykonos. Ornos beach is lined with fine sand and is well protected from strong winds. It`s crisp clear waters are ideal for diving. Scuba diving equipment and chairs can be rented at a fair price in shops found along the beach. You can also enjoy delicacies at one of the restaurants that line the beach while you enjoy the gentle sea breeze. 3. Paraga Beach

Paraga Beach is located about 6km Southwest of Mykonos. It`s a beautiful beach, lined with white sand and a few stone slabs here and there. The first thing that you note in Paraga Beach is its pristine blue water that is clear and inviting. The Paragas northern beach is lined with taverns while the southern beach is much calmer. Hotels near this beach include Zypheros and San Giorgio hotels. You can access this beach by bus from the city center or by water taxi from other beaches.

4. Agios Ioannis Beach

Considered one of the most beautiful beaches of the south coast, Agios Ioannis beach is just a breathtaking sight. Everything about it is wonderful. From the crystalline blue water to the soft sands that line the beache. What`s not to like there? The beach is located away from town, as such, it is quite calm and quiet. To top it all up, you can enjoy a superb view of Delos island. You can stay in Saint John Hotel or Mykonos Grand Resort, which are both located near this beach.

5. Super Paradise Beach

This beach is located about 7km southeast of Mykonos town. It is a beautiful sandy beach with clear blue water. It is calm and quiet with a characteristic light breeze from the sea. There are no hotels nearby but a few beach bars are available, so you can chill out and rest from sea activities. One can access the beach by small boats from Platis Gialos.
